„Dieser Baum hier, das ist die Brautfichte. Ihr gesch\u00e4tztes Alter betr\u00e4gt circa 350 Jahre. Ich denke mal das kommt hin, wenn sie nicht sogar noch \u00e4lter ist. Auf jeden Fall geh\u00f6rt sie zu den \u00e4ltesten Fichten Hessens wenn nicht gar Deutschlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fichten werden normalerweise so bis zu 180 Jahre alt. Am Feldberg stehen Fichten – auch wenn Sie jetzt  am Absterben sind – die sind so 150 – 160 Jahre alt.
Die Fichte war immer der klassische Industriebaum der Forstwirtschaft und sie ist es nach wie vor. Sie wird auch \u201edas Brot\u201c der Forstwirtschaft genannt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Fichten, wie wir sie jetzt in der Forstwirtschaft pflanzen, haben in der Regel eine Umtriebszeit von 100 Jahren.  Es gibt heutzutage kaum noch Bedarf f\u00fcr so dickes Stammholz. In den heutigen Fichtenplantagen haben die B\u00e4ume nach 60 \u2013 80 Jahren die maximale St\u00e4rke f\u00fcr die S\u00e4gewerke erreicht und dann wird der Prozessor rein gejagt\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Es ist schwer zu sagen warum die Brautfichte so alt wurde. Fr\u00fcher sah es hier bestimmt mal ganz anders aus. Man kann sich das heute kaum vorstellen, aber fr\u00fcher also im 17. Jahrhundert als der Baum zu wachsen begann, da herrschte in Deutschland schon die sogenannte Knappheit. Gro\u00dfe Gebiete waren damals vollkommen entwaldet. Holz war ein begehrter Rohstoff, den man f\u00fcr fast alles brauchte. Man hatte die Schweine und K\u00fche in den Wald getrieben und die Streu \u2013 also das Laub \u2013 aus dem Wald geholt um die St\u00e4lle einzustreuen. Im Taunus gab es K\u00f6hlerfeuer und es wurde Pottasche f\u00fcr die Glash\u00fctten, die es auch hier gab, gewonnen. Letztendlich wurde der Wald total zur\u00fcck gedr\u00e4ngt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ich vermute, dass dieses Tal hier und auch das umliegende Gebiet \u00fcberhaupt nicht mehr bewaldet war, sondern dass es hier gro\u00dfe Wiesen und Weidefl\u00e4chen gab. Vielleicht war die Brautfichte eine Hutefichte?! Hutefichten waren B\u00e4ume, die man f\u00fcr das Vieh hatte stehen lassen. Sie hatten so in zwei bis drei Meter H\u00f6he ausladende \u00c4ste, damit das Viehzeug sich hat darunter stellen k\u00f6nnen. Ich vermute, dass deshalb dieser Baum nicht gef\u00e4llt wurde. Woher die Fichte ihren Namen hat, kann ich leider nicht sagen.“<\/p>\n\n\n\n
