Gemeinhin ist das Wandern ja, wie in diesem Lied, durchaus positiv besetzt. Es gilt als Trendsport der Jungen, der Dynamischen und der Intellektuellen.  Den \u201eKopf frei bekommen\u201c, \u201e zu sich selbst  finden\u201c, \u201edie Exotik der N\u00e4he\u201c um nur ein paar Schlagworte zu nennen, all das l\u00e4sst sich durch Wandern erfahren und entdecken. So das Versprechen! Auch taumelland befindet sich oft und gern auf kleiner wie auf gro\u00dfer Wanderschaft.<\/p>\n

Aber jetzt in den Raun\u00e4chten ist die Zeit gekommen, euch von der dunklen Seite des Wanderns zu erz\u00e4hlen. Ein Geschichte die von Irrlichtern, Einsamkeit und dem \u201ein der Welt Verloren sein\u201c handelt. Also setzt Euch vor zu mir, schaut in das Kaminfeuer, kuschelt Euch in Eure Wolldecken ein, nippt an eurem Whisky und h\u00f6rt mir zu:<\/p>\n

Wandering Star<\/h1>\n

\u201eWandering Star\u201c ist ein paradoxer  Begriff. Wenn man ihn im W\u00f6rterbuch nachschl\u00e4gt, bedeutet es so viel wie \u201eIrrstern, \u201eWandelstern\u201c oder auch \u201e fliehender Stern\u201c. Das sind wunderliche Eigenschaften f\u00fcr Sterne. Sprechen wir nicht auch von Fixsternen, gerade weil Sie sich vermeintlich nicht bewegen, sondern fest an das Himmelszelt genagelt scheinen?!  War es nicht der Sternenhimmel der seit jeher der Menschheit Orientierung bot. So fanden die Seefahrer mit Hilfe der Sterne ihren Weg \u00fcber die Meere, und die L\u00e4nge eines Jahres und der Beginn und das Ende der Jahreszeiten wurden nach dem Lauf der Sterne bestimmt. Bei den Maya bestimmten die Sterne sogar den Zeitpunkt f\u00fcr das Ende der Welt.<\/p>\n

Was aber, so fragt ihr zu Recht, hat dieses seltsame Ph\u00e4nomen der \u201eWandelsterne\u201c nun mit dem Wandern zu tun? Auskunft hier\u00fcber kann uns Lee Marvin geben:<\/p>\n

Lee Marvin will nicht mehr ankommen, er f\u00fcrchtet es mehr als das Wetter und die Elemente, denen er alleine trotzen kann. An einer Stelle im Lied singt er noch: \u201eDo I know where hell is? Hell is in hello, Heaven is in goodbye for ever\u2026\u201c<\/em><\/p>\n

Ok, bringen wir es auf den Punkt, er ist  ein Misanthrop. Er hasst und f\u00fcrchtet menschliche Gemeinschaft und hat pathologische Beziehungsangst, aber und das rettet Ihn vor dem totalen Absturz, er hat so etwas wie einen inneren Kompass, dem er folgen kann- einen \u201eWandering  Star\u201c.  Er w\u00e4re jemand, dem man in einer Bar gerne einen Drink spendieren w\u00fcrde um mit Ihm zusammen f\u00fcr eine Weile zu schweigen. F\u00fcr Lee Marvin gilt noch \u201eder Weg ist das Ziel\u201c.<\/p>\n

Wandering Stars scheinen also Wanderern zu erscheinen, die nicht mehr ankommen wollen oder auch k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n

Das gilt auch einem zweiten Wanderer, den ich Euch vorstellen m\u00f6chte. Er bezeichnet sich selbst gar nicht mehr als solchen, sondern er nennt sich \u201ePassagier\u201c<\/p>\n

Bei Ihm ist es so, dass er gar nicht mehr anhalten kann. Er ist zwanghaft in Bewegung. Wandern bedeutet in Normalfall auch mal inne zuhalten. Eine Rast einzulegen und vielleicht mal auf den schon zur\u00fcck gelegte Wegstecke zu schauen. Das ist dem Passagier unm\u00f6glich. Er f\u00e4hrt an allem vorbei und kann nur noch die Dinge benennen die er sieht. Zwischen Ihm und der Welt ist eine Glasscheibe, die authentische Erfahrungen und Weltverst\u00e4ndnis verunm\u00f6glicht. So spekuliert er dar\u00fcber, was f\u00fcr Ihn gemacht sein k\u00f6nnte und was zu Ihm geh\u00f6ren k\u00f6nnte. Im Gesamttext des Liedes wechselt er auch \u00f6fter die Personalpronomina, mal spricht er von sich in der ersten Person, mal in der Dritten und es bleibt auch unklar, ob da tats\u00e4chlich noch eine weitere Person ist, zu der er spricht, oder nicht eher jemand von Fr\u00fcher, jemand Eingebildetes \u2013 eine Abspaltung seines Egos?
\nLee Marvin hat in seinem Lied noch einen Refrain eine (Selbst-)Erkl\u00e4rung f\u00fcr sein Verhalten, n\u00e4mlich dass er unter einem \u201eWandering Star\u201c geboren wurde, das hat Iggy Pop nicht mehr:<\/p>\n

Sein Refrain ist  auch nur noch eine sinnentleerte Phrase und taugt nicht mehr als innerer Kompass:<\/p>\n

Beim Passenger gibt es nur noch die Bewegung, die so schnell ist, dass man vielleicht noch umsteigen aber keine falls mehr aussteigen kann. Woher diese (Selbst-)Entfremdung r\u00fchrt, dar\u00fcber l\u00e4sst sich nur spekulieren, sie bleibt (auch Ihm) verborgen. Der Passagier ist selbst zu eine \u201ewandering star“ geworden.<\/p>\n

Am Ende aber h\u00f6rt alle Bewegung auf. Davon erz\u00e4hlen Portishead:<\/p>\n

Eine Krankheit? ein pers\u00f6nlicher Schicksalsschlag?, ein gebrochenes Herz? Was hat die Protagonistin so reingeritten? Hier ist auf jeden Fall alle Wanderschaft beendet, es gibt keinerlei Orientierung mehr, nichts mehr an dem man sich h\u00e4tte erfreuen k\u00f6nnen. Die Sterne sind erloschen, es gibt nur noch Dunkelheit. Am Ende allen Wanderns scheinen Lethargie  und Tod zu stehen.
\nFast! Denn Rettung ist m\u00f6glich. Man kann, wie in diesem Fall,  versuchen sich Anderen mitzuteilen und sie um Hilfe bitten, vielleicht scheinen sie ja dann wieder – die Sterne!<\/p>\n

Das soll mal das Ende unseres Ausfluges auf die dunkle Seite des Wanderns sein.<\/p>\n

Ach ja, die Geschichte um unseren begeistert wandernden M\u00fcllergeselle am Anfang diese Textes geht auch nicht gut aus: Die begehrte sch\u00f6ne M\u00fcllerin entscheidet sich dann doch lieber f\u00fcr den solideren und potenteren J\u00e4ger und l\u00e4sst unseren romantischen Wanderer  abblitzen worauf dieser sich in einem Bach ertr\u00e4nkt\u2026<\/p>\n
